People & Portraits
One of the most difficult asks in photography is effectively capturing the essence people. A photographer needs to be an expert in the technical aspects of their work and intuitively know how to highlight the distinctive character of that person. A photographer must also be able to make the most of the resources at their disposal while establishing a close, personal relationship with their subjects. Lighting, composition, and other elements in the photograph must be carefully considered to make the photo meaningful and dynamic, rather than a flat imitation of reality.
